To The Son of My Youth

I know, it is not fair to all of you to have to put up with 2 birthday posts in 2 days. Did you really think I wanted to have my kids 2 days apart?

So, if you are not family, don't be afraid to sit this one out. If you are family...don't be afraid to sit this one out.

Because this post is for Brian Marcus, my BMV. And you guys are just reading his mail.

Wow, BMV, I can't believe it has been 10 years! Already! Where has the time flown?

I remember being convinced you were a girl, and then being surprised you were a boy. Your gender was such a surprise to us that even the BFF exclaimed (when she called about 1:00 a.m. to check on me-) "he was supposed to be a girl!"

You started me on this parenting journey, and I have never regretted it. You bring joy to people's lives. To my life. You are tall, and handsome. You are helpful and smart. You are talented and artistic. You dream big dreams.

And I want to be the one who is your cheer leader-not your reality check. I want you to work hard, and chase your dreams.

But, more than that, I want you to chase the plans God has for you. Because I know He has an amazing plan for you. I don't know what all fits into that blue print, but I can't wait to see.

Seek God first, and His righteousness, BMV. That is my challenge to you. Put God first in all that you do, and then let everything else align with that.

I am proud of you, BMV. And I am truly so thankful for you. You are my right hand man. You are a protector to your sisters. And you are a great pal to your brother.

You are no longer a little boy. You are on the cusp of becoming a young man.

But no matter what age or stage you are, I am glad you are MY SON!

Happy 10th birthday, Brian Marcus!
