An Instrument

We recently moved our cd collection to our van. This is a good thing. We no longer have a cd player in the house except our computers. We are very modern, you know-iPods and all that. As I was digging through our collection I came upon a favorite disk that I hadn't listened to in a great while. It has a lot of sacred classical selections, including the Hallelujah Chorus, and St. Francis of Assisi's prayer. St. Francis' words have been on my heart lately as I consider my busyness, and the need to connect with people. Not just to "do ministry" but to "minister". May this prayer speak to your heart as it speaks to mine.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me show love; where there injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.
Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not only seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in His dying, that we are born to eternal life.

This is my call, my heart, my goal. To be like Jesus Christ. To be His instrument. Happy Monday!
