Life is a Gift

There are many people to admire, but Catherine tops the list. She lives with a chronic illness and is always blogging about choosing joy and choosing to be grateful. Her examples humbles me.

I am blessed to have her posting today, and I hope you will check out her blog, Choosing Joy Daily (here).

Thank you, Catherine...

Life is a gift. I am blessed beyond measure and strive to live a life of thankfulness in the good and hard times. Recently, I have experienced some of the harder times.

In a period of twelve weeks, my unborn baby and sweet Papaw were taken by death into Heaven. I have peace and hope in knowing that both of them are in Heaven with the Lord. It is such a joy knowing that I will be joining them one day, as well.

In the midst of the pain and sadness, I smile. Not because I'm not hurting inside - I am. I can smile in genuine joy because I know that God is still the same. Though my circumstances have changed - He hasn't and never will.

He is still in control, even when my world is shaken.
Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

He is always the same, even when circumstances change.
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble

He is with me when the storms come. Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

He gives me the strength to make it through each day, no matter the challenges.
Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever

He comforts me in the trials and teach me how to share His comfort with others who are hurting. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

He gives me hope beyond what I can see and understand.
Romans 8:18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

He holds me when I am weary.
Matthew 11:28
"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

He is the source of all joy.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Praise God! The hope of Heaven, the joy of each moment, the promises of God, and the sparkling light of Eternity…

Could there be a better reason for choosing joy?
