Daughter Became Sister

As part of our schooling, usually every two weeks or so, we learn a new hymn. Last year we started singing with the piano, as opposed to singing A cappella. This year we are taking up an old fashioned hymn as well as a newer hymn every two weeks.

This week's "new hymn" is Before the Throne by Vicki Cook.

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea:
A great High Priest, whose name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me.

My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart;
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair,
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look, and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin.

Because the sinless Savior died,
My sinful soul is counted free;
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise the One,
Risen Son of God!

Behold Him there, the Risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I am,
The King of glory and of grace!

One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Savior and my God
With Christ, my Savior and my God

I particularly like the first verse..."I have a strong perfect plea; a great high priest whose name is Love, who ever lives and pleads for me. My name is graven on His hands, my life is written on His heart! I know that while in heaven He stands, no tongue can bid me thence depart."

It's scriptural, and so comforting. These words will roll through my brain and heart as I'm running. I catch myself humming the tune and lyrics while going about my daily routine. I love this song.

And LC loves it too. She knows the first verse pretty good. And what's more, the truths of this hymn, this week, led her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

She has heard the gospel on a very regular basis all her life. She actually has been known to say that Freckles can't do certain things, because he is a Christian, but she and BMV could do them. But, it never connected with her heart.

Until the past week or two. She started asking questions, and God was on her heart. I could tell, and so could Mr. Hippie. Finally, on Monday night, while I was away at Bible study, LC and Mr. Hippie were singing hymns, including this one, Before the Throne. And she told him that she wanted to trust Jesus. She wanted to go to heaven. He questioned her a bit deeper, and then she prayed. "For God the Just is satisfied, to look on Him and pardon me."

And, you know, she didn't automatically become perfect...but I can see a difference. She wants to tell everyone that she trusted Jesus. She is looking forward to going to heaven to meet her namesake. And she keeps saying in a singsong mantra, "I'm going to heaven. I'm going to heaven." Child like faith. Its the best!
I love her, so much!

And I keep hearing her singing this song. And it touches my mama heart. Because, more than anything else, I want my kids to become Christians. To love and serve this God that I love and serve. To glorify Him with all they say and do.

My cup runneth over! And so do my eyes.
