Today is just one of "those" days...
We made a whirlwind trip to the Chicago area this weekend so a bunch of our good friends could meet Meredith before she is walking and talking. And so I could go shopping with my good friend Margaret. Margaret is my second hand store shopping partner. There is a chain of second hand stores in the Chicago area that she introduced me to me many years ago called Value Village Discount. They are humungous stores with so much stuff, its rather overwhelming. But I usually do very good there. This weekend I was on a mission to find clothes that fit-for both me and my kids. I am between where I want to be, and where I was, so my fitting jeans equal one pair. My shirts were about in the same boat. I have 3 t-shirts that fit-two of which are identical, so it looks as if I am wearing the same outfit day in and day out. I came home with 4 huge bags full of found stuff. That would be: 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of brown slacks, 2 pairs of gray slacks, running pants, kakis, 4 sweaters, 4 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, and a pair of boots for myself. Plus a dress, a shirt, 3 jeans, sandals, and a jean jacket for Elsie. Snow boots and dress pants for Ethan. Two pairs of dress pants for Brian Marcus. One pair of jeans for Brian. And a party lite cast iron candle holder, a pumpkin dish thing, an orange picture to hold utensils, and a terra cotta container to hold utensils. All for the great price of....$90. Not bad, I think. Especially when you consider that almost any 2-3 of those items would have been $90 brand-new.
So today consists of doing 5 LARGE loads of laundry-wash, dry, fold, and put away. Making room for the new by getting rid of some old.
And at least I have four huge empty bags to line the kitchen garbage can with. SO much more convenient than Meijer bags that tend to rip.
Everyone should make a whirlwind trip to Chicago!=)
